From the grueling rally stages in Finland to the twisty mountain passes of Japan, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution has proved its worth as a legendary platform both on and off road. What we have here are two prime examples of the breed on Philippine soil.
The 5 started life as an original left-hand-drive Evolution 4 RS (CN9A), albeit it underwent a full restoration with a complete Evolution 5 RS kit finished off in striking Dandelion Yellow. Cibie Zorro headlights and a pair of canards highlight the aggressive "Gundam-like" styling, with brand-new emblems and decals as a cherry on top of the exterior.
The interior is a feast of rare discontinued parts, such as an OMP Tommi Makinen Steering Wheel, Ralliart Gauge, Ralliart Pedals, Ralliart Shift Knob, and the lightweight Evo 5 RS sidings with wind-up windows.
Powering this 5 is a newly-refreshed 4G63T powerplant, featuring an Evolution 7 short block, a huge upgraded turbo, HKS 280 Cams, HKS Boost Controller, Big Valves, Stainless Valve Springs, a Ported and Polished Head, and a custom downpipe and exhaust system all helping to produce a very usable 328 All Wheel Horsepower tuned by Pacho Blanco. Power is sent to the ground through 18” Volk Racing TE37 Saga Wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Tires, with a hefty AP Racing Big Brake Kit peeping behind. BC Racing coilover suspension and Cusco strut tower bars complete the handling package for this build.
Behind is the well-known Karpartzzz69 Evolution 9 MR - another original left-hand-drive unit hailing from Europe originally. Setting apart this car from all the other CT9As in the country is a collection of Monster Sport parts that enhance the exterior, such as a Carbon Fiber Monster Sport hood, side skirt guard, rear spoiler riser, and gurney flap - perfectly complimenting the Carbon Fiber Ralliart front chin.
The interior is filled with rare Ralliart parts as well. A coveted Ralliart S2 Gauge, Ralliart Steering Wheel Cover, OEM triple-din gauge, and a Ralliart Recaro seat spices up the fresh interior.
Under the hood is the familiar 4G63T MIVEC engine, with a host of supporting modifications such as HKS Sport Intercooler Piping, K&N Drop In Filter, Koyo Large Capacity Radiator, Tomei Test Pipe, Turbo Outlet Pipe, Downpipe, High Flow Fuel Pump, Tomei Poncams, and an HKS Spec R Resonated Cat-back Exhaust. These along with many more produce a very reliable 310 All Wheel Horsepower via an ECUTek tune by Toby Lee.
Keeping the car sure-footed on the ground is a set of Öhlins DFV Road & Track Coilovers, Spoon Rigid Collars, a plethora of Cusco Front, Center, and Rear Support Bars, 18" Volk Racing TE37 Anniversary Wheels wrapped in Bridgestone RE-71R Tires, with the stock Brembo Brakes with Acre Formula 900 Brake Pads and Dixcel Rotors behind.
